_Distractions Vs Responsibility_
Proverbs 31:3-9 do not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol. For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed. Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for those in bitter distress. Let them drink to forget their poverty and remember their troubles no more. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
This proverb is one written by a king who was taught by his mother. In the sense that his son is in a place of authority, a place of responsibility, he has a call on his life like many of us today.
This proverb is very vital to everyone who wants to be of great authority/a leader in any walk of life most especially in ministry .There are things that destroy great men and they must be taken seriously
There are three lessons we are expected to learn from this proverb ;
The word "women " is plural
She wants and warns her son the king against having many but points him to have one woman – a virtuous, God-fearing woman to be his wife. His success was related to having one great woman as his wife.
You being in the place of authority makes you the main target to the enemy because of the anointing on your life therefore you must keep alert to what the enemy puts your way.
If you want to be a great leader you must do away with distractions .These come to divert many from what is important or vital for their next level .
*INFLUENCE (Speak up)*
Your place of authority comes with decisions that affect the lives of those in and out of your circle.
We should not use our authority to oppress but to serve others by speaking up for them were they can't.
This is a call to those in places of responsibility/ leadership as we must be vigilant. They must deny the flesh to keep themselves, their offices, and their churches.
Father keep me vigilant in my walk with you. Keep my heart yearning to know your wisdom that keeps men in check .
