_Legacy and its power to live on_

Acts 9:36-41 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!" Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.

Dorcus, was a disciple who decided to throw her lot in with this gospel. She ensured she did everything to remain relevant in the gospel. She had a legacy to leave behind for the coming generation to follow.

We must decide to give our all in this new resurrection life, as we do, we are sowing in God. Choose to sow in wisdom, because everything you do determines the kind of legacy you leave behind.

Galatians 6:7-10 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Peter is called to raise Dorcus from death. This death might be seen as your business, family etc not bearing fruit.
Will your service cause the man of God to speak life in your life, to raise all that is dead in your life?

What will the future generation think of your years of service? Will they see your relevance in the gospel that you deserve to be ressurected at the end of it all?

Choose to be relevant now. What you do now will determine the kind of legacy you leave behind.

Lord, help me to always be relevant in my time.
