_Neglect Not Such A Great Salvation_
Hebrews 2:1-4 So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.
The author of Hebrew is hinting on a certain truth and that truth is this "great salvation" Christ has given us .He urges us that "We must listen very carefully" to the superior revelation we have received from God through Jesus Christ.
The words "listen very carefully" mean "to hold" with a sense of to hold "with extreme care." We must hold our minds to this great truth.
The salvation is so great because of the greatness of the Savior who provides it. And if we neglect to hear it we shall drift way.
There are eternal consequences if we disobey such a firm word. "In another verson(kjv) it uses the words "Every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty." "Transgression" is the overstepping, crossing over the line or breaking something that was already established .Disobedience" is the unwillingness to hear. Therefore when one is told but refuse to hear or when they hear but do the opposite (they transgressing ) there is a reward.
We are without excuse. There can be no escape if we neglect, deny, reject the good news in Christ. Let us therefore receive it with utmost joy and care .
Father teach how to make your word an anchor of my soul that this great salvation through Christ Jesus may not pass me by . I need it more than ever .
